CAHIR

I told you that the castle Malahaid outside Dublin became one of my favourite castles. Let me introduce my favourite no 1. Cahir. We took a tour in this castle and it was a very young girl named Marie or Maria who told us about the history. This girl new how to tell a story, it sounded like she had had a lot of practise of story telling, probably younger siblings.

She told us what would happen to the soldiers who dared to attac this great castle and about the people who lived there.
And also that when Cromwell attaced the castle the inhabitants didn't do any resistans, they didn't want to destroy their castle, Cromwell and his army was too big.  But just imagine what happened on these fields.

Cahir is built in the late 13th century by the Butler family and if I remember it right it was in the Butler family till the mid 1900. Stories of battles against different enemies, the traps made in the castle, one of my favourite traps are boiling led that was poured over the soldiers.

Parts of the movie "Excalibur" was filmed here.
